Kamnop
“A treasure is waiting for you”
long feature documentary
Logline
A mother and daughter set off on a treasure hunt to their homeland of Cambodia—A quest for justice, gold, and karma, in an intergenerational return trip into the heart of one of the bloodiest genocides in recent history.
Summary
Kamnop is a documentary that explores the multifaceted concept of justice through the lens of me and my mother, as we embark on a journey from the US back to Cambodia. At its core, the film poses essential questions: What is justice, and can it ever be too late to pursue it? The narrative contrasts Western views of justice—centered on retribution, fairness, and the rule of law—with Buddhist principles that emphasize karmic law, compassion, and forgiveness.
